Reiki is a universal healing art whose roots go back to ancient Japan. Reiki is used to heal on physical, mental and spiritual levels and to support mental clarity and spiritual wellbeing.
The word Reiki comes from a Japanese word meaning “Universal Life Force Energy” that is the energy which is within and all around us. The word itself is broken down into two symbols Rei and Ki.
“Rei” which is interpreted as knowledge of spiritual consciousness. Rei is understood to be the God Force, the wisdom that comes from God and is sometimes referred to as the “Higher Self”. It is all knowing and understands each person completely. It knows the root cause and therefore the cure of all problems and difficulties.
“Ki” is the life force energy of the universe. It is the nonphysical energy that flows through all living things and is the primary source of our thoughts, emotions and spiritual existence.
The existence of this energy has been demonstrated by the use of Kirlian photography which has the capacity to take photographs of the energy/aura surrounding living things. This energy plays an important role in everything we do. When this life force is flowing freely we are less likely to get sick and when a living thing dies it is because the Ki has left the body. Ki or Chi as it is called in China is used in martial arts, psychic awareness, healing and shamanic work. It is the nonphysical energy used by all healers.
In Reiki then it is the God Force called Rei that guides the Life Force called Ki to exactly where it is needed in the body. The Ki/Chi enters the body via the chakras and flows through the meridians and nadis along with surrounding us in the energy field called the Aura. A balanced and unblocked Ki flow nourishes the organs and cells of the body, supporting them in their vital functions and therefore equalling good health. If this flow is disrupted or blocked it will interfere with the functioning of the organs and tissues and is one of the main causes of illness.
Ki is responsive to thoughts and feelings thus positive thoughts assist and increase the flow of Ki. When a Reiki treatment is received the” Rei” assesses the healing needed and directs the Reiki energy to unblock negative thought imprints and the energy block, cleansing them with positive energy. It raises the vibrational level and causes the healthy “Ki” to flow in a clear and positive natural way.
The energy is activated by the practitioner and passed on to the recipient where it both replenishes areas that have been depleted of energy and stimulates the body’s own natural ability to heal itself.
Reiki guides itself with its own wisdom. It is not drawn from the healer or their aura but directly from the life source. The practitioner is merely a conduit that allows the energy to flow through it.
Reiki is not affiliated with any religion or religious practice.
Reiki has a holistic approach, healing on all levels, physical, mental, emotional and spiritual, bringing them all back into balance. It has many benefits including

WHAT TO EXPECT IN A TREATMENT
Your therapist will ask you to complete a consultation form which will include questions about your health and any medications you may be on. All the information that you give will be kept confidential at all times. When your therapist is satisfied that they have all the relevant information they need and have explained the treatment to you they will invite you to lie down and the treatment will begin.
The therapist uses different hand positions on the body which you may or may not feel (you should never feel the therapists hand in private areas of your body) During the treatment you may feel different sensations such as heat, cold, tingling or occasionally pain. The actual treatment will last approximately three quarters of an hour and your therapist will tell you when they have finished. When you are finished your therapist will happily discuss the treatment with you and answer any questions you may have.
